Summit Supplies was established in 2009 by George Wickham to fill a hole in the market for good-quality catering products.
We supply everything from aluminium cookware to wire glass-holders, with another 2,000 products in between. Our customers include outside caterers, hotels, restaurants, golf clubs, pubs and nightclubs – in short, any business involved in catering.

But you don’t have to be in the trade to enjoy our top-quality products, our great service and our prompt delivery.

The entire range of stock is available to the general public – whether it’s a large order ahead of a wedding reception or simply a replacement potato peeler.

George Wickham – who has been in the catering industry for more than 30 years – and his team bring many decades of experience to Summit Supplies.

GeorgeAndFamilyI’m a family man with two wonderful children. They are all grown up now but I still make a big fuss over them – I can’t help it, I love them!

As you get to know me you’ll soon realise I’m a traditionalist with good old-fashioned values.

I’m the man who opens doors for women, who always offers his seat, who helps people across the road… and I’m the man who likes to serve his customers with a smile.

I love the sense of freedom and feeling close to nature, which probably explains why I use to love to windsurf.

Something else which brought me close to nature was being a hippy!

OK, the hair’s gone now – but I still know all the words to The Times They Are A-Changin’  by Bob Dylan.

I didn’t intend to be a hippy.

I tried being a  rocker, a mod and even a skinhead for a while –  but as I’d planned a trek to India, being a hippy just suited the traveller in me.

After several months of living on a beach in Goa with other hippies, I continued my travels through India – then on to Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Austria, Germany, Holland and back to the UK, where I chose to put down roots in Norwich.

I’m not telling you this to impress you – I’m telling you this because I want you to know how much I love meeting new people, how I love learning about new cultures and how my background helps me to understand the many diverse business needs.

When I arrived back in Norwich I did a few sales jobs. I then purchased a small manufacturing company which made chemicals for the pub trade. After a while my customers  started to ask me to supply glassware, crockery, barware and tableware. And it was that side of the business that I loved the most.

I began to take note that many catering supply companies were selling online but were missing the good old-fashioned customer service.

It seemed they thought that if they were selling from their website they didn’t really have to be involved with the customer so much. Technology may have changed the way we communicate but I still wanted to be accessible to my customers and give a traditional service.

So, in November 2009, Summit Supplies was born – an online shop with good old-fashioned customer service, driven by technology. You can Tweet me, chat with me on Facebook, connect on Linkedin and even say Hi on Google+.

So the name is no longer Hippy George, it’s Summit George and I’m at your service.
